Thank you to everyone who made it out to our final show at the Avalon. Fine performances were had by all the groups, as well as those of guests Tony Lindsay who sang with Showtyme, Blanca who sang with El Chicano, and Mio Flores and Juan Escovedo who performed on percussion for El Chicano.
I was happy to hear from Fred Sanchez about their newest recording that will be out later this year, which we will be hopefully be debuting once it comes out. Big things are expected from this new recording.
Cinco de Mayo
Three big Cinco de Mayo shows for Latin Rock, Inc.
Richard Bean & Sapo / Chicano All- Stars / Blanca will be performing at the Salinas Sports Complex for Cinco de Mayo along with a racing and car show. This is going to be big. Remember that San Jose will not have an outdoor Cinco like in the past by the GI Forum. Robert Payne should and probably will be the savior of this event for San Jose.
Club Fox: Puro Bandido / Los Cochinos If ever there was a perfect combination of bands, this is it. Both groups bring it, and have great musicians in each band.

George’s: SOL with En Vivo …..2 powerful Latin Rock Party bands that will keep you on the dance floor all night long. Plan on being there
On a personal note – The true meaning of Tragedy.
This past Sunday, my nephew Andre Gonzalez, son of Juan and Patsi Gonzalez, was tragically killed in a car accident. Andre was going to graduate in 4 weeks from Cal State Fullerton, where he was on a full scholarship on the wrestling team. This guy was the Tim Tebow of college wrestling. He would bring other wrestlers to the center of the mat at competitions to pray.
Andre was brought up Christian and led a Christian lifestyle. When he was home, we would talk about MMA (mixed martial arts) and wrestling holds. He was looking forward to beginning a career in MMA, along with his doing his degree in Kinesiology
(Sports Physical Therapy).
Coming home from the restaurant he worked at, late on Sunday night, he flipped the PT Cruiser that his parents had bought him just 2 weeks ago. We will never know what happened to cause this tragic loss of a young exemplary life just starting. Andre led by example, and was respected even by his toughest opponent.
So I leave you with one thought. Kiss your babies, children and loved ones and tell them that you love them every time you leave them because you never know if it will be the last time. I hope no one has to ever hear the cry of a mother who has just lost her child. That is an emotional experience you will not soon forget.
On Sunday May 20, I will be going with his parents and 2 younger sisters to Cal State Fullerton so they can receive the Diploma that he earned in a special ceremony dedicated to him.
The family is accepting donations to cover the many unexpected expenses. Please send them to:
